From Bullied Teen to Business Owner: My Journey
Share
I’ve always believed that jewellery should tell a story. For me, that story starts long before Made Here With Love was born. It begins with a shy teenager, battling anxiety and low self-confidence after years of being bullied at school.
Growing Up with Struggles
Bullying shaped so much of my early life. It chipped away at my self-esteem, left me doubting my worth, and made even ordinary days feel heavy. As a teenager, I struggled with my mental health in silence, carrying scars that weren’t always visible.
I learned to shrink myself to fit in, to stay quiet rather than stand out. But inside, I longed to feel seen, accepted, and celebrated for who I really was.
Finding My Voice
As I grew older, I realised that my struggles didn’t define me - but they did shape me. They gave me empathy. They made me notice the people who feel left out, the ones who think they don’t belong.
That’s why, when I began creating jewellery, I knew it had to be different. I didn’t want anyone to feel the way I once did: excluded, unseen, or unworthy. Made Here With Love was built from that place — a brand where inclusivity, kindness, and meaning come first.
Every size-inclusive bracelet, every beaded ring, every gemstone chosen with intention… they’re all reminders that you are enough exactly as you are.
Why Mental Health Matters So Much
My teenage struggles have never really left me. Even now, as a business owner, imposter syndrome screams in my ear. Anxiety can creep in when things get tough. But instead of hiding those struggles, I’ve chosen to make them part of my brand’s heartbeat.
That’s why 10% of every sale supports YoungMindsUK — a charity dedicated to young people’s mental health. Because no teenager should ever feel as alone as I once did. Every bracelet we send out plants a tree for the future too, because hope and growth are things we all deserve.
Building Back Confidence
Creating Made Here With Love has been more than a business journey — it’s been a healing one. With every piece I design and make, I reclaim a little more of the confidence I lost as a girl.
-
When a customer tells me a bracelet made her feel seen, it heals the part of me that once felt invisible.
-
When someone gifts one of my pieces with love, it reminds me that connection is the strongest antidote to cruelty.
-
When I look at the community we’re building, I see proof that out of pain can come purpose.
To Anyone Who’s Struggling
If you’ve ever been bullied, doubted yourself, or wrestled with your mental health — please know this: you are not alone. Your struggles don’t make you weak; they make you human. And sometimes, they even give you the fire to create something beautiful.
I never imagined the girl who once dreaded walking into school would one day be running her own jewellery brand. But here I am. Proof that healing is possible, confidence can be rebuilt, and even the hardest chapters can become the beginning of something meaningful.
Closing Thoughts
Made Here With Love isn’t just about jewellery. It’s about rewriting the story — mine, and maybe yours too. It’s about turning pain into purpose, and creating pieces that remind you daily of your worth, your resilience, and your beauty.
So if you’ve ever felt left out or not enough, this is your reminder: you deserve to shine.
With love,
